I was in my first year Computer Science class at the University of Toronto and my professor was going through his introduction slides. In one of the slides there was a question, “How to be good at programming”. I thought my professor was going to share tips on how to be a good programmer, but the next slide reads “How to become a Good Hockey Player”. The answer was later revealed to be “Practice Practice Practice”.
You can master and become an expert in any subject by practicing, this can be applied anywhere. That’s why some professions require you to complete certain hours of job training under supervision. For example to fly a BOEING commercial aircraft one must complete 3000 hours of flying experience.
With several years of teaching experience in both Public and private school settings, I have observed one common thing in students who are not doing well in Mathematics. Lack of practice. Math Emperor focuses on providing structured High School Ontario Mathematics curriculum (including AP and IB) with emphasis on working out different practice problems after each lesson and assigning students with a good amount of practice problems to bring home to master a new concept or skill.
My students will have access to Google Classroom where they can access my handouts for each lesson as well as homework assignments. Since the pandemic students have explored various online tools to have an interactive learning experience. By utilizing state of the art educational technology I can assure that students will have a great learning experience in my classroom.
