I am an Ontario Certified Mathematics and Computer Science Teacher, who has been teaching Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science for the past nine years at public school. In addition to my teaching experience at TDSB, I also provided individual tutoring for the past 15 years in Toronto. My great passion for utilizing technology as a tool in teaching led me to the idea of starting an online platform for tutoring. I believe that by using state of the art technology, I can make learning online interactive and engaging.
But online teaching has its disadvantages. After several years of teaching at TDSB's Virtual School during the pandemic and at eSummer programs, I’m aware there are students who will not benefit from online learning for various reasons. Especially when you are teaching Mathematics online, it is not possible for every student to be equipped with the correct technology to complete their practice problems, homework and assessments. It is not an effective way to deliver Mathematics lessons when both student and teacher are not equipped with the right technology. Keeping that in mind, Math Emperor is opening its first in-person lessons at Markham Professional Gateway located at Markham and McNicoll intersection.
Currently I am doing my Master in Mathematics for Teachers at University of Waterloo. My Master’s program provided me with great insight into Mathematics, how to connect Mathematics to the real world and how to think like a Mathematician. In addition, I’m equipped with various Mathematical software such as GeoGebra and Maple to intrigue Inquiry Based Learning for Students.
I have a state of the art learning Management Platform (Google Classroom and Moodle) , and a Video Conference tool (Zoom or Google Meet) to connect with students, so that they will have the feeling of learning in person.
In addition to focusing on the Ontario Mathematics curriculum, students also have an opportunity to explore enrichment activities such as doing contest problems from various Mathematics contests and build Models using the Mathematical software to explore and investigate the beauty of Mathematics.
